What is Blue Light?
Blue light comes from the sun, as well as LED lights and digital device screens. People are exposed to more blue light than ever before. Blue light suppresses our body’s release of melatonin, which helps regulate our sleep cycles. More of it during the day helps us stay awake, and less of it at night makes us sleep better.
Blue light, also known as highly energy visible (HEV) light, is a type of light with short wavelengths emitting a higher energy. Blue light penetrates deep into the eye, so exposure can result in:
Damage to the retina, exposing the eye to hidden spikes in intensity. Long-term vision problems such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataracts. Suppressing the natural release of melatonin, disrupting sleep.
Long-term exposure to blue light can cause: Eye Fatigue / Dry Eyes / Potential Macular Degenera / Skin Aging
Blue Light & Digital Eye Strain
The average Malaysian spends more than seven hours a day on their device(s), correlating with reports of digital eye strain.
88% of people already know digital devices can negatively affect their vision. Less than 10% actually realise LED lighting also contains a lot of hazardous blue light which can harm the human eye.
The Blue Light Damage is Real
Long time exposure to blue light may cause: Eye Fatigue / Dry Eyes / Potential Macular Degenera / Skin Aging
